{"id":521,"date":"2013-01-18T07:14:49","date_gmt":"2013-01-18T13:14:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.travway.net\/?p=521"},"modified":"2013-01-18T07:14:49","modified_gmt":"2013-01-18T13:14:49","slug":"colorado-trip-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/travway.net\/index.php\/2013\/01\/18\/colorado-trip-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Colorado Trip Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this week I posted some preliminary plans for a trip to Chicago and Seattle. \u00a0As a third option, I have developed one for a Colorado trip. \u00a0So here we go!<\/p>\n<p>Since I will have three lists in this post, I will use as WordPress calls them ordered and unordered list. \u00a0Which is to say numbered and\u00a0bulleted\u00a0lists. \u00a0Got it?<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>We would leave for Osceola in the\u00a0evening\u00a0so we could catch the Westbound California\u00a0Zephyr<\/li>\n<li>Ride to Granby in coach class and arrive 10:30ish MT.<\/li>\n<li>Get our car.<\/li>\n<li>Get lunch<\/li>\n<li>Take in the sights and check in to our lodge<\/li>\n<li>Following day rent a canoe and take to the Colorado river (in its infancy), Grand Lake, and Lake Granby.<\/li>\n<li>Next day drive the Trail Ridge Road (new and old)<\/li>\n<li>Leave Granby and head overnight back to Iowa<\/li>\n<li>Arrive around 8AM and drive home<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pros<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Somewhat cheaper than the Seattle trip<\/li>\n<li>Scenic<\/li>\n<li>An overnight experience on Amtrak<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cons<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Might take more time<\/li>\n<li>A bit more expensive than Chicago<\/li>\n<li>Time commitment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Really up in the air on this one, but could be cool.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this week I posted some preliminary plans for a trip to Chicago and Seattle. \u00a0As a third option, I have developed one for a Colorado trip. \u00a0So here we go!
