Situated on a quiet cove of Lake Martin, the locals told us that this was probably one of the best places to go if visiting from out of town (which I was). If you do go get a local to give you directions or get an up to date GPS. I had neither and had a bit of difficulty finding it.
Ambiance:
The option was available to eat on the deck in the lounge area. I opted not to since it was a bit later in the eve and I did not know what kind of incests to expect. Otherwise it has the backwoods lodge and upscale feel to it. The interior was decorated with many wooden statues of various things, all the meanwhile a very dim lighting, fireplace and light jazz playing gave you the impression that you may not be in Alabama after all.
Menu/Price:
A bit pricier but a nice selection of various items. There are a few Creole dishes available as well as Quail, salads and burgers. Entree’s started at $14 and worked their way upwards of $30. Aside from appetizers, nothing was less than $8.50. However everything that passed my table, looked very good with very large portions. If you want you can also get a pizza, which I did not see but from the description it would appear to be a Chicago style wood oven pizza. It better be a large pizza (14 inches plus) for the price starting at $22.
Meal:
And speaking of portions, I had way more food than I could handle. The side salad had a house dressing on it that was similar to blue cheese ranch and was very nicely tossed (if I may use that phrase, wait its my blog so I can!). The house potatoes and vegetables were great and on a separate dish because the pasta took ownership of the normal plate. I do enjoy a good Cajun dish and Sinclair’s did not disappoint! In addition to chicken, there was also creole crawfish tails in the pasta sauce as well.
Service:
Pretty good, although I said no to wine twice I was asked yet a third time. Normally I would get a bit upset but since I was representing a local business I politely declined the third time. Drinks we’re always full and I did not have to wait long to be checked on prior to or during the meal.
Overall:
I think this might be an interesting venue to come back and visit during the daytime to sit on their deck and eat a burger. Or come during a sunset over the lake. I did not mention it prior but they do have a weekend brunch, which would be awesome if it was offered earlier than 11:00 AM. Nevertheless, if you can find it, its worth the trip.
