Something that I started to think about while Tress and I enjoyed Boone’s valiant attempt to put on a fireworks show over this Fourth of July really has edged me for a while. I don’t think it is appropriate for anti-war or pacifists to enjoy the Forth of July. After all, the Fourth signifies our Independence that was gained by Patriots who fought British oppression Surely anti-war liberals would not have done this. They would have attempted to talk and try to understand the British King George.
So is it really fair that they should enjoy and celebrate the Forth of July? This goes right up there with my Atheist should have to work all Sundays and Christmas argument (December 2006 I think, but Blogger not showing it or a few other months).
