Just a few nights ago we (Tress and I) had a prime example of what we need to change and correct in our walks with the Lord.

What happened was we were preparing to make a frozen pizza for supper. I preheated the oven and both of us walked away for a small period of time. All of a sudden Tress gets up, and starts freaking out, to which I got up and saw the problem. Our stove is on fire.

The reason it is on fire is because Tress had put our new electric skillet from my parents in the oven to get it off of the counter. This was spurred from an idea the week previously where we had just made freedom toast (yea that’s right, FREEDOM not french) and noticed we were running late for church. We realized that we did not have enough time to clean the skillet, and did not want Gary on the counter enjoying left over freedom toast. So I took the skillet placed it in the oven, and put the plug for the skillet over the knob so we would remember to take it out.

Fast forward a few days to frozen pizza night, Tress had put the skillet in with out putting the plug on the knob to remind her and me that the skillet was in there.

Naturally it ruined the skillet and created an awful mess, but it also brought out the worst in both of us.

Both of us were attacked by the devil at this time as both of us said things that hurt each other. Granted we both reconciled later, but I got to thinking that it really hits John 3:30 home.

“He must increase, I must decrease” John 3:30

We are our own worst enemies.
