Toilet Bowl I
Feb 6, 2005
Indianapolis, Indiana
It was a beautiful day at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, the site of the NFL’s first annual Toilet Bowl, where the AFC Chokes the Cleveland Browns met up with the NFC Chokes, the San Francisco 49’ers to see who would be flushed in the first annual Toilet Bowl.
Both teams exerted little effort to come to make it to the game, the most shocking upset was the close miss by the Miami Dolphins. Cleveland just kept doing what that had done all year and sleeked past the better Dolphins.
Attendance’s were off the charts compared to the forecast of the game, however two thirds of the concession staff were sent home before the game went underway because all of the 92 fans in attendance were given a free drink ticket at the gate, but did not need this because security was lax and plenty of food and beverages came in.
The game was a complete stool stomping time. The Browns struck first blood with recovering the opening game kickoff and running in for a touchdown. However the 49’ers not to be outdone quickly overcame the Brown defensive line to even the score up. The Browns managed to squeeze in a field goal before the close of the 1st quarter.
In the second quarter the 49’ers recovered four fumbles and gave up two safeties, while the Browns racked up nine points from field goals.
The game was really stomping for the half-time show with this years guest Janet Jackson. Not to be outdone by last years performance at the Super Bowl, Janet not only exposed her self twice but she also encouraged all of the remaining 43 fans to move to Canada because George Bush was elected President. At this point the fan all motioned for signal. That signal is the big chrome oval shaped handle to match that of a regular porcelain beauty. The halftime show was flushed and the game got underway.
During the third quarter neither team gave much of an effort to do anything, as the score was locked at 16-14 Browns. Because of the boredom of the fans, one third of the remaining 39 left at the start of the fourth quarter.
During the fourth quarter to keep interests high, both teams continually fouled each other to set new NFL records on penalty yards, however this became the contest on who would win the game rather than scoring points because the Browns gave up a safety this way to even the score out at 16-16. Not to be outdone the 49’ers attempted this same strategy however fumbled the ball on the one yard line where the Browns capitalized and won the game 23-16, making this years World Choke the San Francisco 49’ers!
