Many of you know of Dick Gephardt, the US Representative from Missouri that they can not get rid of. Dick has been in the US House since 1976, ran against Dukakis in the 88 DNC Presidential nomination race, and claims he is a Baptist.
It dawned on me that I think he was letting what he believed in get in his way of getting into the White House. I heard on Jan Mikelson (1040 who am) a quote of him basically saying that abortion was wrong. Jan played more recent quote where he basically said that (paraphrasing) he was brought up Baptist and now that he is older and wiser, he does not believe what he believed then. So by definition he has just become a “surface” Baptist as I like to call them.
But it gets better, you see he has a gay son, and supports civil unions. Now I am pretty convinced that he is not a true Baptist because he would have not accepted his son as a homosexual.
Here’s the facts that back up my argument. I am a God fearing, born again Baptist, and let me share with you what exactly real Baptist believe. We believe that God’s word (the Bible) is the main driving force in our life. We believe that a soul is created at conception, we believe that marriage consists of a man and a woman, we believe that God hates gays, and we believe that it is our duty as faithful Baptist to teach our offspring what we believe and what we were taught.
So with this in hand, we can tell that Gephardt is not a true Baptist. Oh he might be part of a liberal Baptist church that says the right things and does the right things to appear Baptist but are practicing hypocrisy. Which I guess explains why he is running as a Democrat.
