MP3’s. Are they really legal? Are they really wrong? Is it ok to have them even if you have the disk? Well according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) they say no!
Why why aren’t they? Why is it wrong.

Here is why it is wrong and right. It is wrong if you freely distribute things that are not yours, or things that you do not hold rights too. That makes it wrong if you have MP3’s and share them with your buddies and get more from your buddies.

Its right, in my view to have them as backups to CD’s and to not distribute them.

Now the RIAA’s argument is that if you don’t have the CD then it is illegal, and they have recently gone as far as if you do have the CD and have them then it could be illegal as well.

My argument back, why the heck should we by CD’s in the first place then. They are faulty equipment and scratch and always get ruined. And for that matter, why even buy them if we cannot the CD’s because the artists have rights to the songs within. Now saying that and looking above, with the RIAA’s defense that you cannot own stuff that you don’t own rights too. Granted that, why buy CD’s.

Now I know there is a difference between buying a cd and downloading a song, but you know what. It has been proven over and over again, that the RIAA’s sales were raising until they cracked down on this. Why would they strangle their own sales? Why would they kill something that is obviously good?

Well the reason for this is that they felt that because they saw a small drop in record sales, they panic and start to step on their own toes. Then they say, hey lets go after our fans, and stop them from spreading illegal songs.

Well if their illegal, then why do the radio’s play them, and why do they even sell them in the first place. It irritates me so much that I have stopped buying CD’s and stopped listening to artist in general. That’s right, why should i listen to Hollywood garbage when i can listen to talk radio for free. Plus talk radio does not go after its listeners saying, oh your violating the user agreements when you listened.

Remember when information was free, it still is, turn off the tunes and go to talk radio. If no one listens to the artists complain, or sing about filth. Then they have no power.
