It’s safe to say that we all have long lost memories, I have tons of them that I have completely forgotten about until that one moment where something of familiar tastes triggers the archive to bring up events long gone past. Here are a few: (most of these were as a Kid i.e. younger than 12 unless otherwise stated)

  • I rode my bike with my new roller blades on because I wanted to get to a level parking lot to roller blade but did not want the excess baggage, the result was a crash.
  • I lost a red Ertl Hay baler at my grandparent’s (now home with the Lord) house (now gone). I searched for years for it and could not find it. I lost it on the north step when someone called me in for something. I left it there never to find it again.
  • In my old room at our old house I used to be scared of the tree that was close to the windows during a storm.
  • I remember staying home from school to start tearing down the living room at our old house.
  • I remember staying home one day to help when mom was sick (think she might have been pregnant with Tyler) and was somewhat immobile  I went to get the mail at the post office and there was a limo at the bar. Being a young boy of probably 11 or so and never seeing one that close I could not resist getting a closer look.  Low and behold the then morning show hosts of KGGO; Lou and Larry came out of the bar and saw me looking. They let me get in the limo and play with the knobs and junk while they got me some bumper stickers and a t-shirt. I have yet to be in another limo
  • While I was working for Vern as a teenager, I drove a show tractor with my coonskin hat for Rose Festival.
  • At my grandmothers funeral, I was playing with my cousins in the gym at church and accidently fell down and put a small hole in my nice pants. Mortified that mom would be upset, and even more mortified that they were gathering us for a kid picture, you can see in the picture that I have my hand kind of low on my leg covering the hole.
  • Kimberly and I used to pretend that the back seat of the car was a rocket ship and when mom and dad would be driving back on those long trips and we were in back we would entertain ourselves with this idea and have to duck at every car coming because those were “shooting stars” that could blind us.

Thats all I can remember for now, I’m sure there will be more
