Something odd happened while I was visiting corporate, I found myself in a situation where I was craving breakfast and it was breakfast time. Normally we utilize the hotel’s breakfast (meh). Since we had to get to the airport at a mid morning time, we checked out early and hit the road with plenty of time to stop on the way at America’s best, Waffle House.

Ambiance:
Not too shabby as Chris Farley would say. Everything was pretty well clean and it seemed as though that this Waffle House was recently renovated, or deep cleaned to the nth degree. They were also extremely busy which is a good thing if you are the unit owner.

Menu/Price:
I have done other Waffle House reviews before so some of it might seem redundant. However since today was a breakfast day, I decided to order pretty much ala Carte. I got quite a bit for $4.92 ($7 was with tip). Nothing individually costs more than $3, with a pecan waffle at the top of the pack at $2.85. Grits are probably the cheapest thing you can get on their menu at $.75 a cup, cheese is extra and taboo if you ask me.

Meal:
Waffle’s from Waffle House rule! I don’t think it is really their batter so much as it is their irons. They get the perfect consistency that is crunchy on the outside, yet soft and fluffy in the middle. As for the grits, I have come to learn there are five basic additions to grits with various combinations; Salt, Sugar, Butter, Milk, and Cheese. I opted for sugar as I used my butter for my waffle, but a little known secret I’ll openly share. Bacon in grits is pretty darn good!

Service:
I love the personal touches that the staff at this unit did. Each of them we’re very friendly and could not believe that Iowa did not have a Waffle House! Despite being flooded with customers, the usual influx of “usual customers” as well as road customers, each could probably attest as I am that the service was great!

Overall:
Once again Waffle House scores high on my scale at 1 Fork and 1 Knife. You might ask why not give them the 1 Fork, 1 Knife, 1 Spoon rating? Simply because Georgia is a long ways away from Iowa, otherwise I would as this is a unit worth becoming a “usual customer” at.
